a SALE!!

Togo and Jody at Off the Wall Gallery have really put together a dynamite juried exhibition - if I remember their numbers correctly, they are showing 90 works out of some 300+ that were submitted.  I'd submitted 3 works, and they accepted one for the Show.  It was the one I consider "best" of the three, but not the one I thought had the best chance of getting in.  This is the third time I've been in one of their shows, and it always feels especially good to be chosen there, as they have earned a reputation for high quality in their shows.

The information for the show looks like this, and they are putting together a supporting booklet that should be available at the Show Reception on Thursday, the 9th:

The other thing about shows there is that the artworks actually SELL.  And today I got an email from them that my painting indeed DID sell !!!!!  This, even before the Show Opening!

Wow!

So my winning submission was titled Night Bus:

Night Bus.  Oil on board, 11 x14” (2009)
Description:  This painting began as as the elaboration of a pencil sketch made of a fellow passenger on a bus ride from Frederick VA to Philadelphia, late at night.  The reading lights were not working and that seemed to increase the isolation of the individual passengers from each other.  This personal solitude, especially as we passed through small towns, is enhanced through an homage to Edward Hopperʼs Early Sunday Morning.
